Donation of Medicine for treatment of Thalassaemia
On 11 September 2013, at the request by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Ambassador of India in Armenia Dr. Suresh Babu visited the State owned hospital “Muratsan”, run by the Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) and formally donated in a special ceremony a consignment of medicines (Kelfer Capsules) supplied by CIPLA, one of the leading Indian Pharmaceutical Companies, as a humanitarian assistance to 20-25 young children suffering from Thalassaemia.
Prof. Sergey Khachatryan, the Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Mickael Narimanyan, Rector of the Yerevan State Medical University, Dr. Yervand Sahakyan, Vice Rector of International Relations, Yerevan State Medical University and Dr. Samvel Danielyan, the Chief of Clinic “Muratsan” University Clinical Complex, Chemotherapy Clinic were present during the ceremony. In his acknowledgement speech, the Rector spoke about the disease that can potentially take the lives of the infected children even before they attain their teenage. Both Deputy Minister and the Rector have expressed their gratitude to the Indian Pharmaceutical Company ‘Cipla’ and to the Government of India for their quick response to their appeal by promptly arranging this priceless medicine.
The Ceremony was attended by a few parents of the children suffering from Thalassaemia, treating doctors and specialists in the hospital.
