Passport Services

The Embassy of India, Yerevan provides the following passport services to Indian Nationals living in Armenia/Georgia:
  1. Re-issue of Passports to Indian Nationals (over 18 years of age)

  2. Passports for Children (under 18 years of age)

  3. Issue of Emergency Certificates/Duplicate Passports in lieu of damaged or lost Passports

Time Taken for All Passports

  • 4 weeks – For fresh passport/change of detail in passport only if the old passport was issued in the Embassy of India, Yerevan.
  • 8 weeks – For fresh passport/change of detail in passport only if old passport was NOT issued in Embassy of India, Yerevan.
  • For lost/damaged passport: 8 weeks in most cases. However, in some cases it could take more than 3 months.
  • For Emergency Certificate: Only after the identity of the applicant has been established.

Re-issue of Passports to Indian Nationals (over 18 years of age)

Re-issue of Passport on expiry or up to one year before expiry (having a valid Visa)

A new Passport can be issued on the expiry, or up to one year before expiry of any Passport which had an initial validity of 10 years.

Requirements

  • Application form 1 duly filled in and signed.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current or recently expired Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • General Sworn Affidavit-A.
  • Personal Particular Form (in duplicate) for Police Verification (may be required to be filled in some cases where identity is not conclusively established. )
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Re-issue of Passport on expiry for more than one year (Visa Expired)

Applications for expired (over a year) Passports must be submitted in person by the applicant and not sent by post. New Passport will be issued to the applicant after due verification.

Requirements

  • Application form 1 duly filled in and signed.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current or recently expired Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • General Sworn Affidavit-A stating non-acquisition of Armenian/Georgian nationality.
  • A letter from the concerned Armenian/Georgian authorities confirming non-acquisition of foreign nationality by the applicant.
  • An Indian ID proof carrying photograph of the applicant like Driving Licence, ration card, electoral ID card, PAN Card etc.
  • Personal Particular Form (in duplicate) for Police Verification (may be required to be filled in some cases where identity is not conclusively established. )
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

New Passport – if there are insufficient blank pages in the Passport

No additional booklets are issued by the Government of India. Once the last page of the current passport is exhausted, one has to apply for a new passport. The requirement for issue of new passport in lieu of exhausted passport is same as above.

Change of name subsequent to marriage/remarriage/divorce/death of spouse

For change of name subsequent to marriage/remarriage/divorce/death of spouse, applicant will be required to apply for a new Passport.

Requirements

  • Application form 1 duly filled in and signed.
  • Personal Particular Form (in duplicate) duly filled in.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • Marriage certificate/divorce deed/death certificate (as the case may be) duly attested by the Home Department of the State Government concerned and counter attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, CPV Division, Patiala House Annexe, Tilak Marg, New Delhi. In case of Marriage certificate/divorce deed/death certificate (as the case may be) issued by concerned civil authorities in Armenia/Georgia, such a certificate should be submitted along with its English translation duly Apostilled by the concerned Armenian/Georgian authorities.
  • Annexure-E in the prescribe format with joint photograph (in case of marriage or re-marriage)
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Change of name - other cases

Requirements

  • Application form 1 duly filled in and signed.
  • Personal Particular Form (in duplicate) duly filled in.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • Cuttings of two leading newspapers (one in India and the other in Armenia/Georgia) carrying advertisement notifying the change of name and asking for any objection thereof to be reported to Embassy of India within 30 days of the publication.
  • General Sworn Affidavit-A.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Addition/Deletion of Spouse name

Requirements

  • Application form 2 duly filled in and signed.
  • Personal Particular Form (in duplicate) duly filled in.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • Court decree dissolving the marriage or death certificate duly attested by the Home Department of the State government concerned and counter attested by Ministry of External Affairs, CPV Division, Patiala House Annexe, Tilak Marg, New Delhi.
  • General Sworn Affidavit-A.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Change of address

Requirements

  • Application form 2 duly filled in and signed.
  • Personal Particular Form (in duplicate) duly filled in.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • Valid Proof of new address in the form of utility bills, latest monthly bank statements, property papers etc.
  • General Sworn Affidavit-A.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Change of signature

Requirements

  • Application form 2 duly filled in and signed.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • General Sworn Affidavit-A.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Change in appearance

Requirements

  • Application form 1 duly filled in and signed.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Passports for Children (under 18 years of age)

Re-issue of Passports for Children

Requirements

  • Application form 1 duly filled in and signed. Thumb impression (either left or right) of the child may be provided at the relevant place of signature of applicant in the application form. The declaration in the form must be signed by both parents, which should match with signatures on their Passports.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • Original and photocopy of the Birth Certificate issued by the hospital/commune
  • Marriage certificate (if the name of the spouse is not endorsed on the respective passport). If the Certificate is issued by the Armenian/Georgian authorities, a notarized copy of the marriage certificate duly authenticated by the respective Government authorities is to be attached with the application form.
  • Declaration of parents/guardian if applicant is minor - Annexure H
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

New Passport for Children if there are insufficient blank pages in the Passport

No additional booklets are issued by the Government of India. Once the last page of the current passport is exhausted, one has to apply for a new passport. The requirement for issue of new passport in lieu of exhausted passport is same as above.

First Passport for Children born in Armenia/Georgia

In this case, following two steps are involved:

Online Registration of birth

For an Indian child born in Armenia/Georgia, Online registration of birth is required.

Name of a child of Indian origin born in Armenia/Georgia cannot be entered on their parent’s passport any more. For a child to be given an Indian passport his/her birth must have been registered with the Consular Section of the Embassy.

Indian Citizenship of a newly born child in Armenia/Georgia

With effect from 01.07.2012, the Government of Indiabirth of a newly born baby outside India for claiming citizenship by descent under Section 4(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955.

The Embassy of India in Yerevan will provide the citizenship If the application is made within one year of child's birth. If the application is made after one year, the citizenship will be granted after obtaining clearance from Ministry of Home Affairs.

By Descent (Section 4)

  • A person born outside India on or after 26th January 1950 but before 10th December 1992 is a citizen of India by descent, if his father was a citizen of India by birth at the time of his birth. In case the father was a citizen of India by descent only, that person shall not be a citizen of India, unless his birth is registered at an Indian Consulate within one year from the date of birth or with the permission of the Central Government, after the expiry of the said period.
  • A person born outside India on or after 10th December 1992 but before 3rd December, 2004, is considered as a citizen of India if either of his parents was a citizen of India by birth at the time of his birth. In case either of the parents was a citizen of India by descent, that person shall not be a citizen of India, unless his birth is registered at an Indian Consulate within one year from the date of birth or with the permission of the Central Government, after the expiry of the said period.
  • A person born outside India on or after 3rd December 2004 shall not be a Citizen of India, unless the parents declare that the minor does not hold passport of another country and his birth is registered at an Indian consulate within one year of the date of birth or with the permission of the Central Government, after the expiry of the said period.

Requirements

Application for registration of the birth of a minor child to an Indian consulate under Section 4(1) shall be made Online and shall be accompanied by an undertaking in writing from the parents of such minor child that he/she does not hold the passport of another country. For applying online, please visit web site http://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/. After filling up the application online, the hard copy along with the following documents should be submitted to the Embassy of India in Yerevan:

  • Original and photocopy of the Birth Certificate issued by the hospital/commune duly apostilled by the concerned Armenian/Georgian authorities with its duly notarized English translation.
  • A copy of the Indian passport of both the parents.
  • A copy of the certificate of Indian citizenship if acquired by registration/naturalization.
  • A copy of the marriage certificate.
  • Declaration that the child does not hold the passport of any other country.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Issue of First Indian Passport after the grant of India Citizenship

Requirements

  • Application form 1 duly filled in and signed. Thumb impression (either left or right) of the child may be provided at the relevant place of signature of applicant in the application form. The declaration in the form must be signed by both parents, which should match with signatures on their Passports.
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • The current Passport having valid Visa or Residence Permit of the parents is required to be enclosed along with photocopies of the first and last pages.
  • Original and photocopy of the Birth Certificate issued by the hospital/commune duly apostilled by the concerned Armenian/Georgian authorities with its duly notarized English translation.
  • Both the Parents should present themselves at the time of applying passport. If one of the parents is absent, then the General Sworn Affidavit-A should be filled in, giving his/her passport details and explaining the reason for the absence, filed in front of a First Class Magistrate and duly attested by Ministry of External Affairs should be sent in original.
  • Declaration of parents/guardian - Annexure H
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Issue of Duplicate Passports/Emergency Certificates in lieu of damaged or lost Passports

Requirements for Duplicate Passports

  • Application form 3 duly filled in and signed.
  • Damaged passport or (in case of lost passport) a copy of Police report.
  • Six identical photographs (facial features against light background).
  • Two copies of Personal Particulars Form.
  • In case of student, a letter of verification from school/college is required.
  • General Sworn Affidavit-A.
  • Photocopy of the previous (lost) passport (if available).
  • Photocopy of Driving License or other personal identification document, preferably with photograph of applicant.
  • Photocopy of Resident Permit or Valid Visa.
  • Photocopy of documentary proof of residence in Armenia/Georgia.
  • A written declaration, detailing the circumstances in which the passport was lost/damaged.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Requirements for Emergency Certificates

  • Form for Emergency Certificate (application form 4) duly filled in
  • 4 (four) Passport size (35 mm x 45 mm) identical photographs showing frontal view of full face with white background.
  • Details of the flight and transiting country should be mentioned.
  • Photocopy of the passport held.
  • Any other document to establish Identity.
  • Payment of fees in cash (Armenian Dram only).

Time taken for Emergency Certificate: Only after the identity of the applicant has been established.
